IPA Mentorship Panel: Exploring the Benefits of Mentorship in Psychogeriatrics

Join us for a new style of online event for IPA: Mentorship! No matter your discipline, mentorship can take your career in so many different directions and provide you with the tools and insight to make the best choices for your unique goals. Join us for an interactive event to hear about the benefits of mentorship through a brief presentation from Nadine Kaslow, a mentorship program founder from Emory University, and an interactive discussion panel from mentors and mentees alike.

We will end the event with a Q&A with our guests and a sneak peak into the brand new IPA Mentorship Program coming in 2024!


Introductory Speaker-

Dr. Nadine Kaslow

Dr. Nadine J. Kaslow is Professor and Vice Chair for Faculty Development and DEI at Emory School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. She is the newly appointed Director of Wellbeing, Resilience, and Flourishing in the Emory at Grady Dean’s Office. She is past president of the American Psychological Association (APA), American Board of Clinical Psychology, American Board of Professional Psychology, and Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers. The recipient of multiple federally funded grants, she has over 370 publications and has co-edited seven books related to psychology education and training, culturally responsive interventions for family violence and suicide, trauma-informed and patient- and family- centered care, leadership, healthcare worker well-being, and faculty development. A frequent media guest, Dr. Kaslow is the psychologist for the Atlanta Ballet. 

Panelists-

Dr. Erlene Rosowsky

Dr. Erlene Rosowsky, PsyD, FGSA, is Professor in the Clinical Psychologyy Department at William James College and Teaching Associate at Dept. of Psychiatry, Harvard Medical School. Dr. Rosowsky has achieved international recognition as an expert on late-life personality disorders and was a Fulbright Scholar in the Netherlands and China. In 2020, she received the first annual Michael Duffy, PhD Award for "Outstanding Contribution to Training and Mentorship of Psychology in Long-Term Care."

Dr. Debanjan Banerjee

Dr. Debanjan Banerjee is a consultant geriatric psychiatrist at APOLLO Multispecialty Hospitals, Kolkata. He's also the Co-chair, Advocacy and Public Awareness Committee, IPA and Convenor, Geriatric Psychiatry Section, SAARC Psychiatric Federation. Dr. Banerjee works in the area of human rights and dignity of older people, social psychiatry, sexual medicine, and end-of-life care. He has been an active part of several WPA and IPS leadership training and mentorship programs.

Dr. Je Eun Lee

Dr. Ju Eun Lee is a Geriatric Psychiatry Subspecialty Resident at the University of Toronto. She is also a member of the International Longevity Centre (ILC) Canada and Canadian Coalition Against Ageism (CCAA). She developed an interest in various advocacy and education work under the mentorship of Dr. Kiran Rabheru.  Along with Dr. Rabheru, she is one of the co-investigators for the CIHR-funded project, Building Consensus on Education and Research Priorities for Addressing Ageism in Canada. Locally, she leads a seminar on ageism for psychiatry residents.
