Rob Madan

Dr. Robert Madan attended medical school at the University of Western Ontario, Canada, and completed his psychiatry residency at the University of Toronto. Dr. Madan has the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada designation of Geriatric Psychiatrist. He has been on staff at Baycrest since 2003 and is an Associate Professor in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. Dr. Madan is the Psychiatrist-in-Chief and Deputy Chief of Staff at Baycrest, and Executive Medical Director of Ambulatory Care.  
 
Dr. Madan is a graduate of the Education Scholars Program from the Centre for Faculty Development at the University of Toronto. With an interest in medical education and scholarship in education, Dr. Madan was the Division of Geriatric Psychiatry Postgraduate Education Director for 17 years, and was the inaugural Program Director for the University of Toronto Geriatric Psychiatry Subspecialty Residency Program. In this program, Dr. Madan utilized and studied novel medical education tools such as curriculum maps and competency based medical education.  
 
Dr. Madan is a past board member of the Canadian Academy of Geriatric Psychiatry, and was the recipient of the CAGP Award for Outstanding Contributions in Geriatric Psychiatry which recognizes a geriatric psychiatrist who has made a significant contribution to geriatric psychiatry in Canada through education, research or innovations in service delivery.  
 
Dr. Madan is involved in research in the area of dementia and is the co-creator of the Baycrest Quick-Response Caregiver ToolTM which is available in 6 languages, viewed globally, and has been adopted by the World Health Organization for the Global Dementia Observatory Knowledge Exchange (GDO KE) Platform. Dr. Madan has been the Chair of the International Psychogeriatric Association Productsand Services Committee since 2021.
