Raymond Koopmans has a chair in Elderly Care Medicine, especially long-term care. Elderly care Medicine is a unique specialty in the world with a three-year specialty training program. He is affiliated to the Department of Primary and Community Care: Centre for Family Medicine, Geriatric Care and Public Health of the Radboud University Medical Centre Nijmegen. Furthermore, he is employed as an elderly care physician by de Waalboog foundation in the city of Nijmegen, a facility that delivers specialized geriatric care for patients with dementia and (severe) challenging behaviors, patients with young onset dementia, patients with mental and physical multimorbidity and patients who require (terminal palliative care) in Nijmegen.
