Wendy Moyle is Professor & Director of the Centre for Health Practice Innovation (HPI), a research program in the Menzies Health Institute QLD at Griffith University, Brisbane, Australia. Furthermore, she is the Director of a Social Robotics Laboratory that aims to develop and evaluate technologies and social robotics with end users (health professionals, families & people with neurodegenerative disorders). She is also a research leader in a National Dementia Collaborative Research Centre – Consumers and Carers, a management board member of the Queensland Dementia Training and Study Centre and has served as scientific member on several agencies such as Alzheimer's Disease International and Alzheimer’s Australia.

Dr Moyle has extensive relationships with international organisations and researchers.  She collaborates with researchers from China, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, The Netherlands and the UK and has Honorary Professorships at two UK Universities. She is the Advisory Board Chairperson of a Gerontological Nursing Research Centre in Hong Kong and is the current advisor and previous advisor of several large international dementia intervention studies. She was one of 12 international experts invited as an expert member of the World Health Organization Consultation Group on the Classification of Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms in Neurocognitive disorders for ICD-11. She is sought after as an international speaker and has to date given 75 keynote and invited plenary sessions. She has published over 200 peer-reviewed publications, books, book chapters and reports.

Dr Moyle’s research has focused on evidence for best practice in care of older people and in particular those with dementia, depression or/and delirium.  More recently her research focus has been on improving quality of life and finding evidence for managing behaviours of distress associated with dementia using controlled trials to test psychosocial interventions, assistive technologies/social robots and complementary and alternative medicine interventions.  She is an international leader in the area of social robots and dementia and is currently the Principal Investigator of the largest and most rigorous trial investigating the effect of companion robots on mood, agitation and quality of life. She has received several media awards related to the extensive media coverage of her research internationally on television, radio, newspaper and social media.

Dr Moyle has been an active member of IPA since 2005. She is the current Co-Chair of the IPA Nurses’ Special Interest Group and she has co-led a revision of the IPA nurses’ guide for BPSD. She is currently also the Co-Chair of the Long-Term Care Special Interest Group. She was a member of the IPA Board of Directors from 2011-2015.
