Brain Health is the state of brain functioning across cognitive, motor, sensory, social, emotional, and behavioral domains, allowing a person to realize their full potential over the life course.

It implies a multidimensional concept that focuses on the brain´s ability to adapt, learn, and recover from challenges while maintaining mental clarity and emotional resilience.

The aim of this Debate is to discuss and hierarchize the concepts and the growing importance of an adequate Brain Health through some essential strategies and tools, as like sleep quality, physical activity, balanced diet, social connectivity, monitor cardiovascular health, mind-body connection, cognitive reserve and holistic wellness among other important concepts.

The objective of this activity is to bring the necessary motivation and knowledge in order to increase our conscious as health professionals of the substantial importance of Brain Health.

Speaker: Facundo Manes (Argentina) 

Facundo Manes is a doctor neurologist, neuroscientist, entrepreneur, scientific disseminator and political argentine creator of the Institute of Cognitive Neurology (INECO), honorary president of the INECO Foundation, former rector of the Favaloro University, director of the Institute of Neurosciences of the Favaloro Foundation and Principal Investigator of the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET) from Argentina. Since 2021 he has worked as national deputy for the Province of Buenos Aires.

Speaker: Matilde Leonardi (Italy) 

Matilde Leonardi is an Italian neurologist and paediatrician. At present she is Director of the Neurology, Public Health, and Disability Unit and of the Coma Research Centre at the Carlo Besta Neurological Institute in Milan.She is a FEAN, (Fellow of the European Academy of Neurology) and a WHO expert and consultant on neurology, disability, ageing and policy development who is co-chair of the WHO NeuroCOVID Forum group on essential neurological services for COVID-19 recoverers. Leonardi has also been a World Federation of Neurorehabilitation (WFNR) Presidium adjunct member since June 2024 after her mandate as Presidium member for 4 years.She was elected for a second mandate as Chair Communication Committee of the European Academy of Neurology in July 2024.

Speaker: Juan Rodriguez (USA) 

Juan Rodriguez, PhD, MPH, MS, is vice president for Brain Health at AARP, where he leads the organization’s work to advance brain health and dementia risk reduction. He serves as executive director of the Global Council on Brain Health, an AARP-led collaborative of internationally recognized scientists and clinicians that translates emerging research into practical guidance for the public. In his role, he sets the strategic direction for AARP’s brain health initiatives, builds partnerships across sectors, and works with internal and external stakeholders to expand the reach and impact of evidence-based brain health strategies. He also represents AARP in national and international forums focused on aging, brain health, and dementia prevention.
