NEW JOURNAL CLUB - REGISTER NOW From Biomarkers to Bedside: The Ten Most Influential Dementia Papers of the Past Five Years[ December 16th, 2025 at 7:00 AM CST (US/Secretariat) ] Click here to register for this IPA event.
This presentation, originally delivered at the CAGP-CCSMH 2025 ASM, reviews ten influential publications in geriatric psychiatry from 2021 to 2025 that have advanced our understanding in dementia. The topics addressed include epidemiologic projections of global prevalence, risk factors, diagnostic methods, drug- and non-drug therapies, as well as interventions to reduce harm in treatment. Drawing these threads together, the session translates evidence into concise practice points for earlier detection, safer prescribing, and person-centred care. Dr. Esther Lee completed medical school and psychiatry residency at the University of Ottawa where she served two terms as Chief Resident. She was awarded the Faculty of Medicine Award for Professional Competency and Matthew Ginsburg Award for her dedication to education and research. She received the Geriatric Psychiatry Rotation Award and will continue to pursue her strong interests in psychogeriatrics through subspecialty training at the University of Ottawa beginning in 2026.
