The Baycrest Quick-Response Caregiver Tool: Evidence and Utility in North America and Pakistan

Neuropsychiatric symptoms of dementia (NPS) are common and result in negative outcomes and poor quality of life for both the person living with dementia and caregivers. Behavioural interventions are usually the first line of treatment for NPS. The Baycrest Quick-Response Caregiver ToolTM provides caregivers with a tool that is meant to be used in the moment when NPS are occurring. In this webinar, the presenters will demonstrate how the tool works, and present the evidence in formal and informal caregivers in different settings in both Canada and Pakistan. Participants will learn how the tool complements and adds to other behavioural management tools.

Our presentations will include the following:

Dr. Ken Schwartz and Dr. Rob Madan- How to Respond to Neuropsychiatric Symptoms: The Baycrest Quick-Response Tool for Caregivers of Persons Living with Dementia

Learning Objectives:

1.  Describe the steps of the Baycrest Quick-Response Caregiver Tool
2.  Describe the evidence in both family caregivers in the community and formal caregivers in nursing homes
3.  Compare and contrast the tool with other caregiver tools and describe its potential utility

Sehrish Tofique and Nusrat Husain- Caregiver Education and Support for Caregivers of Persons Living with Dementia in Pakistan: the Global Adoption of the Baycrest Quick-Response Caregiver Tool

2.  Describe the methods to adapt the tool to caregivers in Pakistan
3.  Understand the research to date
