Kate Zhong

Dr. Kate Zhong is the former Chief Strategy Officer for the Global Alzheimer’s Platform (GAP), a foundation devoted to improving and accelerating clinical trials for Alzheimer’s disease.  Dr. Zhong led the organization’s strategic planning, drove patient recruitment and engagement initiatives, cultivated collaborations and fostered technology development. 

Prior to joining GAP in July 2016, Dr. Zhong was the Senior Director of Clinical Research and Development for the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health where she led the development of the research program and established the center as one of the largest and most active clinical trial facilities for memory disorders in the country.

Dr. Zhong has been a scientific consultant for multiple pharmaceutical, biotech, and patient recruitment companies. She has provided consultation regarding clinical trials, drug development, and patient recruitment to industry, academic centers, and health care institutions in the United States, Canada, and Asia.

Having received her MD degree from West China University of Medical Sciences in Sichuan, China, Dr. Zhong continued on to earn her Master Degree in Pharmacology and completed her residency in Psychiatry at University of Toronto, Canada. As a Geriatric Psychiatrist, she has extensive experience in providing treatment and care for patients with neurocognitive disorders.

Dr. Zhong works closely with Alzheimer-related patient advocacy groups, philanthropic organizations, private foundations, and technology companies. She is actively engaged in public education and community activities involving clinical research, healthy aging, and brain wellness.

A founding member of WomenAgainstAlzheimer’s and a member of International Women’s Forum, Dr. Zhong was honored as a “Woman to Watch” and "Alzheimer’s Ambassador” by Vegas Inc. Magazine. She was featured in the PBS documentary “MAKERS: Women Who Make America,” profiling her as one of Nevada’s most influential women. She was recently honored with the Las Vegas Top Tech Exec Award and Healthcare Headliner Research Award for her creation of Cleveland Clinic healthybrains.org, an innovative interactive digital platform to accelerate clinical trial enrollment and to empower the public with tools and strategies to improve their brain health and reduce risk for brain disorders.
