You may notice a new look to our
Website. Our new appearance will be associated with improvements that will make our web site easier to use, and reflect our commitment to providing frequently updated content that will further our mission of improving the mental health of older people everywhere through education, research, professional development, advocacy, health promotion, and service development.
As an international organization, we recognize the Internet as a wonderful tool for facilitating communication between our members, and between our members and the vast audience that shares our commitment to improving the mental health of older people everywhere. For many that share our passion for this important task, attending our meetings is difficult and costly. We intend to use the Internet to spread information that will let us share our enthusiasm for advances in scientific knowledge and caregiving techniques that characterize progress in mental health care for older persons. We see our web site as a useful resource that will reward frequent visits. We can only achieve that goal with the help of our worldwide membership. Our members have been generous in sharing their expertise and experience. We recognize that the academic world rarely rewards publications on a web site compared to publication in a traditional, paper journal. None the less, our members have volunteered to write articles and provide content that will make you want to check in frequently to see what's new in psychogeriatrics. Our web site editorial panel includes many enthusiastic and knowledgeable experts in mental health care, and they have volunteered to review submissions and help us keep the quality of this site at a high level.
We are also launching a major educational initiative offering continuing education opportunities for many disciplines related to mental health care for older persons. Keep checking our site to learn of additions to the IPA Learning Portal series of educational products.
We ask all our readers to feel free to communicate with our web editorial panel. Our goal is to keep a brisk pace of change to satisfy our membership and our broader audience. Email us at website@ipa-online.org with any suggestions or corrections.
