The past few months have been exciting ones in the life of IPA. I would like to update you on some recent developments. First, I have been working with the IPA Executive Board and our Executive Director to streamline our operations and clarify our budgeting processes. Throughout this process we have been guided by our external consultant, Mr. Herb Schneiderman.
With the help of the Membership committee, we are working on more affordable membership fees for potential members from developing nations, electronic memberships and the concept of bundled or automatic membership for everyone in affiliate organizations. When these initiatives become a reality, we should see a dramatic expansion in IPA members.
We have had very successful regional meetings in Santiago, Chile and in Seoul, South Korea this year.
Things are rapidly progressing toward our 2005 Congress in Stockholm under the leadership of Bengt Winblad and the head of the scientific committee, John O'Brien.
It looks like all the pieces are falling in to place for an upcoming MCI Consensus Conference. In addition, an active group under the leadership of Henry Brodaty is developing a statement relative to the risk of cerebrovascular events in dementia patients treated with various atypical antipsychotics.
Lastly, I encourage you to check our website (www.ipa-online.org) frequently to check on the many new features we are developing under the direction of our website editor, Jay
Luxenberg.
