Chairperson Follow-up Letter

Dear Dr

Meeting: THE DIAGNOSIS AND ASSESSMENT OF ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE IN PRIMARY CARE
Location: XX XX XX

We are delighted that you have agreed to chair the meeting, ‘The diagnosis and assessment of Alzheimer’s disease in primary care’, to be held at the XXXXX on the XX XX XX at XX:XX.

The meeting

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the practical aspects of diagnosing AD in the primary care setting. In addition it is hoped that, through discussion of the diagnostic process, it will be possible to go some way towards initiating the development of local AD diagnostic guidelines, generated from input at the meeting. The meeting will be attended by general practitioners and AD specialists.

Please see the enclosed preliminary program, for your information. It is intended that each plenary presentation will be 20 minutes, with questions taken at the end of each presentation. This will be followed by break-out workshop sessions during which important elements of the diagnostic process will be debated. Following the workshops, the meeting will reconvene to discuss the findings of each group. You will be advised of your workshop group in advance of the meeting.

Your key responsibilities, as Chairperson of the meeting, will be to provide a brief introduction, to introduce each speaker, to chair the discussion sessions and to summarize the findings of both the plenary and workshop sessions. In addition, we would appreciate your attendance at a briefing session before the start of the meeting.   Please find enclosed chairperson’s briefing notes.

Slides

We have produced a series of slides which cover all the aspects of AD diagnosis and assessment that will be under discussion. I would like to suggest that we meet to discuss which slides, if any, you would like to use and to run through the structure of the meeting. I will telephone you next week to arrange a convenient time for us to meet.

There will be a slide briefing prior to the meeting, the time of which has yet to be finalized. It would be most helpful if you could attend. This will provide you with an opportunity to meet other faculty members and to preview all of the slides together.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you require any further information.

Yours sincerely
