Diagnostic criteria for AD

Definite
  • Clinical diagnosis of AD
  • AD neuropathology at biopsy or autopsy
Probable

 

  • Dementia from clinical history and neuropsychological assessment
  • Progressive deficits in memory
  • Onset between 40 and 90 years of age
  • Absence of systemic or other brain disorder causing dementia
Possible
  • Dementia with variations in onset or course
  • Single progressive cognitive deficit
  • Presence of systemic or other brain disorder
